The short answer

Yes. Please make it your own.

30V30 began as one family’s story, but these songs were released in the hope that they might reach people far beyond us. If a song connects with you, we want it to have another life in your sound.

Reach matters more to us than collecting an upfront fee. For an ordinary artist cover, 30V30 does not charge an upfront permission fee. You will still need to follow your distributor’s cover-song process and take care of any required mechanical licensing and royalties.

How it works

Four simple steps.

Send us a quick note before release. That lets us confirm the song’s rights and exact credit, understand your plans, and put any special permission in writing.

Choose a song

Start with a commercially released 30V30 song that means something to you.

Tell us your idea

Share the song, artist or band name, new style, planned changes, and hoped-for release date.

Clear the right path

For a faithful cover, use your distributor’s cover-song process. For bigger changes or special uses, wait for our written approval.

Release it in your voice

Use the confirmed credit, send us the link, and let the song find people in a new way.

The ground rules

What you can do—and what needs a separate yes.

These guidelines protect the songwriters, your new recording, and the parts of Hannah’s story that belong only to her and her family.

You’re welcome to

Bring the song into your world.

Record a completely new performance with your own voice, musicians, and production.
Change the genre, tempo, instrumentation, key, vocal style, and arrangement while keeping the song’s basic melody, lyrics, title, and heart intact.
Perform the song live and release your audio cover after handling the licenses required for that use.
Create your own cover art. As between you and 30V30, your newly recorded master is yours.
Earn revenue from your recording, subject to the normal songwriter, publisher, distributor, and licensing obligations.
Accurately tell listeners that the song was written by Nick Ray in memory of his daughter Hannah, and link to 30V30.com or HannahNicoleRay.com.

Ask first—and get it in writing—to

Go beyond an ordinary cover.

Change lyrics, title, basic melody, fundamental character, or core meaning; translate the lyrics; or create a parody.
Sample, remix, mash up, isolate, or reuse any part of a 30V30 recording, vocal, instrumental track, stem, or production.
Use 30V30 album art, single art, logos, or HWY60 Records branding, or suggest that you represent 30V30 or Hannah’s family.
Use Hannah’s name, image, likeness, signature, voice, photographs, private story, or memorial materials as your artwork or promotional branding.
Place the song in film, television, advertising, branded content, documentaries, podcasts, games, or political or campaign material.
Use the song in anything hateful, defamatory, pornographic, politically exploitative, or disrespectful to Hannah’s memory.

Who owns what

Three separate things.

A cover creates a new recording of an existing song. Keeping those pieces separate protects everyone involved.

The song

The underlying composition remains with its songwriter and publisher. We will confirm the correct rights and credit for the song you choose.

Your recording

Your performance and new master recording belong to you or the people and label named in your own agreements. 30V30 does not claim your master.

The original materials

The 30V30 masters, stems, artwork, branding, and Hannah’s voice, image, and family materials remain protected and are not included in cover permission.

Give the song its credit

Use the exact line we confirm.

For songs controlled by Nick Ray and Southern Indiana Publishing, the credit will generally look like this. If another rights holder is involved, we will tell you before release.
